Information - Men’s Day: Aspects of the Buddha

Over the course of Buddhist history, the Buddha has been depicted quite differently in the three great phases of his teaching. From the earliest recordings of the Buddhas life, through the Mahayana and on into the Tantric phase, the Buddha has been depicted in very diverse ways. All of these depictions carry the same core teachings but emphasise different aspects of that teaching. What can we learn from these quite different depictions of the Buddha and how can we apply that learning to our lives as Buddhist practitioners?

On this day for men of all levels of experience, we’ll have three talks on the Buddha. We’ll hear of the Buddha as depicted in early Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism and on into the Vajrayana phase. There’ll be time to meditate, discuss the talks and to simply hang out with other men for the day. We’ll finish the day with a puja.

Come for the whole day if you can but you are welcome to join us from lunchtime onwards if that works best. We will be spending the day exploring the Buddha in all his aspects with other men. Led by the Ipswich Men’s Chapter.

Open to men of all levels of experience. Please bring vegan lunch to share.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
