Information - Read The Room Book Swap

Calling all Ipswich bookworms, page-turners, and literary lovers! We have the perfect Saturday afternoon lined up for you. Mark your calendars for Saturday 13th June 2026, because the popular Read The Room Book Swap is returning to one of Ipswich’s most stunning venues, The Church.

Whether you are looking to clear some space on your bookshelves or are hunting for your next favourite read, this is a wonderfully relaxed community event where you can connect with fellow book lovers and discover some absolute gems. Best of all? It’s completely free entry and open to all ages!

How Does the Book Swap Work?

It’s simple! The main goal is to share the joy of reading. Here is how you can get involved:

  • Bring your best: Please try to bring along books that you would be genuinely happy to find at the swap yourself, or ones you think others would find interesting and inspiring.
  • Drop off early: If you want to get organized ahead of time, you are very welcome to drop your books off at The Church from the Thursday before the event. The lovely team there will keep them safe until the big day!
  • Bring them on the day: Alternatively, you can just bring your books along with you on Saturday.

Grab a Brew, a Beer, or a Bite

The Church’s brilliant café and bar will be open as usual throughout the event, making this the perfect spot to settle in. You can grab a freshly brewed coffee, a sneaky daytime beer or glass of wine, and some delicious snacks while you browse the tables and chat about your favourite authors.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
