Information - Sea Shanty Flash Mob at Ipswich Heritage Harbour

For the first time ever, local shanty groups will be performing a flash mob at Ipswich’s Heritage Harbour! Led by The Orwellermen, and the Shefarers of Pin Mill, and organised by the Ipswich Maritime Trust as part of the maritime festivities for Heritage Open Days.

Sea shanties are a wonderful reminder of our maritime past. The songs were often sung to accompany jobs aboard ship, such as hauling sails, or to commemorate heroic events or family back home.

The flash mob – somewhere on the Waterfront! – will include old favourites and some modern compositions too. Come along and join in!

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
