Join us for a special screening of Gossip: a 16th-century tale of community, power, and resistance.

“A prescient and beautifully rendered portrayal of patriarchal subjugation.” Directors Notes

Set in 1584 in East Anglia, this historical short film tells the untold story of witches as they really were—midwives, healers, women with knowledge and power. The film is now touring across East Anglia, bringing the story to the communities and places it reflects.
The screening will be accompanied by a performance of folk and original songs by artist Saltings, reflecting on the portrayal of women and witches in our traditional music. Afterwards we will be joined for a Q&A by the musician and filmmaker Hannah Renton (Gossip’s writer-director) exploring the history and themes in the film, as well as the idea of folk as a living archive.

You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Involved In Pride in Place

One of the biggest misconceptions about community projects is that they're only for people with impressive CVs, professional backgrounds or years of experience sitting on committees. The Pride in Place programme - a government investment for Whitehouse and Stoke Park/Chantry of £20m into each area over 10 years - is trying to change that.
