The Mayor’s Rugby Lunch – A Delightful Day for a Great Cause

Join the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Stefan Long, for a special Rugby Lunch in support of his Mayoral Charities: East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and Dora Brown.

Date: Saturday 17 January 2026
Time: 11:30am to 4:00pm
Venue: Ipswich YM RUFC

What to Expect

The day begins at 11:30am with a delicious 4-course lunch, served promptly at noon. The menu includes a variety of options designed to please every palate, including vegetarian choices.

After the meal, guests can enjoy the exciting rugby match as the Mayor’s club, Ipswich YM, takes on Colchester II in the Eastern Counties Division.

To add to the fun, there will be a Raffle and a Heads and Tails game, with all proceeds going directly to support the Mayor’s chosen charities. Plus, a cash bar will be open throughout the event for refreshments.

The Menu

  • Starter (chosen on the day): Curried parsnip (v) or Cream of tomato soup (v)
  • Main Course (must be pre-ordered): Braised Short Rib of Beef with celeriac and horseradish mash, seasonal vegetables or Winter Vegetable stew (v)
  • Dessert: Chocolate mousse with berry compote
  • Cheese: Selection of English cheeses
  • Tea or Coffee

Price and Booking

The full Rugby Lunch experience is priced at £35.00. This wonderful day not only promises great food and sport but also supports two fantastic local charities.
